We all need a certain amount of stress in our lives or we would not be motivated to do anything at all, but chronic stress (this occurs when a person is under constant stress over a long period of time) is responsible for many emotional and physical difficulties. At least 10% of the population report suffering from chronic or constant stress and a survey carried out in 1999 (Roper Starch Survey) came up with some interesting if not totally surprising results. The team studied 30,000 people worldwide between the ages of 13 and 65 in 30 different countries and produced the following findings: - • Women who work full-time and have children under 13 report the greatest stress worldwide • Nearly one in four mothers who work full-time and have children under 13 feel stress almost every day • Globally, 23% of women executives and professionals and 19% of their male peers say they feel ‘super-stressed’.
